Virgilio Cardoso de Medeiros (2 July 1911 – 26 November 2022) was a Brazilian supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of his death, he was the oldest known living man in Brazil.
Biography[]
Medeiros was born in Piripiri, Piaui, Brazil on 2 July 1911, the eleventh child born to parents Antonio Benavenuto de Medeiros and Constancia Cardoso de Menezes Britto. He married Antonia de Sousa Cavalcante.
He became the oldest known living man in Brazil, following the death of 111-year-old Hilario Vasconcelos on 28 June 2022.
Medeiros died in Piaui, Brazil on 26 November 2022 at the age of 111 years, 147 days. Following his death, then 110-year-old Joao Marinho Neto became the oldest known living man in Brazil.
