Virginia Adair Jefferson (née Davis; 14 August 1912 - 4 June 2024) was an American supercentenarian who was the oldest known person living in the U.S. state of Virginia. Her age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Virginia Jefferson was born as Virginia Adair Davis in Forest, Bedford County, Virginia, USA on 14 August 1912 to Alonza and Otelia Davis. She grew up on a farm with her eight siblings – four brothers and four sisters.

She remembers milking a cow by the age of nine, and did anything she could to help around the farm, which had cows, chickens, horses, pigs, and a garden.

Virginia married Malcolm Jefferson in April 1938. He died in May 2008.

Jefferson says that she doesn't know exactly what the key to a long life is, but attributes much of it to her hard-working demeanor and God. She celebrated her 110th birthday in August 2022.

Jefferson's age was verified by Waclaw Jan Kroczek and Oliver Trim, and validated by the GRG on 3 July 2023.

Virginia Jefferson died in Lynchburg, Virginia, USA at the age of 111 years, 295 days.
