Virginia Audrey Van Peenen (née Stafford; 29 January 1912 – 25 October 2022) was an American supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2023.
Biography[]
Virginia Van Peenen was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA on 29 January 1912 to William and Elsie (née Frank) Stafford. She was married to Robert Hart Anderson who died in 1950. They had at least two children: Robert Anderson and Linda Armstrong.
In January 2022, Van Peenen celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian. Following the death of 112-year-old Annie Wilson on 17 August 2022, she became the oldest known living person in North Carolina.
Van Peenen died in Cary, North Carolina, USA on 25 October 2022, at the age of 110 years, 269 days.
