Vita Brancaccio (née Canonico; 5 July 1913 – 25 July 2021) was an Italian-born Swiss centenarian who was one of the oldest known survivors of COVID-19, having recovered from the disease at the age of 107.

Biography[]

Brancaccio was born on 5 July 1913 in Baselice, Campania, Italy. She spent the first half of her life living in a village near Benevento, Campania, before emigrating to Switzerland when she was about 50.

Brancaccio lived with her daughter Maria. In November 2020, both Brancaccio and her daughter were hospitalised after contracting COVID-19. Despite developing severe pneumonia, Brancaccio successfully recovered, making her one of the oldest survivors of the disease at 107 years old. Her daughter also successfully recovered.

Brancaccio died in Chiasso, Ticino, Switzerland on 25 July 2021 at the age of 108 years, 20 days.
