Vitantonio Lovallo (born 28 March 1914) is an Italian supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). He is currently the oldest known living man in Italy.
Biography[]
Vitantonio Lovallo was born in Avigliano, Basilicata, Italy on 28 March 1914.
From the age of 16, Lovallo has always worked. He began by being a shepherd and helping the family in the lands cultivated with wheat or corn. During the Second World War he was sent to the front. Lovallo was first in Bari and then a prisoner in Corfù. At the end of the war he returned home and found work as a muleteer (he transported wood with mules). Then he married and had three children, two daughters (one of whom was 86 years old, in 2023) and a son. Throughout his life he continued to work.
At the age of 103, Lovallo still tended the vineyard or grazed his ten sheep every morning. The secret of its vitality is concentrated in these two aspects: healthy and stress-free life.
In March 2024, he celebrated his 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
Lovallo currently lives in Avigliano, Basilicata, Italy, at the age of 111 years, 79 days.
Longevity Records[]
Lovallo became the last living Italian man born in 1914, following the death of professor Luigi Miti on 15 July 2023.
Following the death of 110-year-old Michele Cicora, on March 31, 2024, he became the oldest known living man in Italy, only 3 days after becoming a supercentenarian.
Lovallo is currently the oldest known living person in Basilicata and the fourth-oldest known living man in Europe, after Ilie Ciocan, John Huang and Luis Carrasco-Munoz Perez de la Isla.
