Vittorina Lamperti, also known as Sr Vittorina Lamperti, (27 May 1916 – 27 October 2016) was an Italian-born Singaporean nun and centenarian.
Biography[]
Sr Vittorina Lamperti was born in Parabiago, Italy. She joined her local Association of Catholic Action at six years old, and was 15 when she first felt the call to religious life.
At 18, Sr Vittorina joined the Canossian novitiate at Vimercate, Italy with the intention of becoming a missionary. She made her first profession on 9 August 1938, in Welwyn Garden City, England. After World War II, Sr Vittorina was posted to the mission territory of Malaya and worked both in Kluang and Singapore. She taught in Canossa Convent Primary School and took care of the boys’ section in the Home run by the Sisters. When she retired from teaching, she helped to set up a kindergarten in Taman Jurong, Singapore. She also taught in the parish kindergarten of the Church of St Francis of Assisi in Boon Lay.
Sr Vittorina Lamperti, FDCC of the Canossian Daughters of Charity in Singapore passed away on 27 October 2016, aged 100 years, 153 days.
