Walter Charles Richardson (7 November 1885 – 25 December 1998) was a validated American supercentenarian and the world’s oldest validated living man from the death of Christian Mortensen on 25 April 1998 until his own death nine months later, as well as the world's fourth-oldest validated living person.
Biography[]
Walter Richardson was born in South Dakota, USA, on 7 November 1885. His parents were Charles and Mary Richardson. He later moved to Ogle County, Illinois, and married Ida Speeckeen around 1913. The couple never had any children.
Walter enlisted in World War 1 when United States entered the war in 1917-1918. Afterwards, Walter worked as the vice president of the Holcomb Bank in Chicago until 1948. Ida died in 1980. On the occasion of his 112th birthday, it was reported that he was in good physical and mental health.
He is the oldest validated man ever born in the U.S. state of South Dakota and the oldest validated man ever who died in the U.S. state of Illinois.
Richardson died in Illinois, USA, on 25 December 1998 at the age of 113 years, 48 days.
