Wen Lian [Chinese: 文连] (1/24 October 1900 – fl.24 October 2012) was a Hong Kong-Chinese supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Wen Lian claimed to have been born between 1 and 24 October 1900 in Hong Kong. Aged 18, she married a man of Cai family in Hongxing Community; she had a son and a daughter. They lived in Shenzhen, and she harvested rice. After 10 years of hard work, they earned their own house in Hong Kong.
During the Second Sino-Japanese War, the Japanese Army burnt Wen's family house, and killed her husband. They fled in her husband's native village, Haoyong Village, and opened a shop. She walked the streets to sell charcoal. After the liberation, Wen and her family no longer had problems to live.
Later Life[]
At the age of 108, Wen still could walk with a walker. Since at least 2011, Wen was reported to be the oldest living person in Shenzhen. At the age of 111, she was reported to rarely go out but to be in good physical shape.
According to her daughter-in-law Yuan Apo [Chinese: 袁阿婆], she is open-minded and has a good character. Even if her family does something bad, she won't shout. Her daily routine and her appetite are very regular, and she isn't punctilious.
Wen was last confirmed alive in Haoyong Village, Hongxing Community, Songgang Subdistrict, Bao'an District, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China, at the age of 112 years, 0 days.
