Willie Mae Viola Irving (née Walls; 15 July 1904 – 13 March 2015) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was the oldest known person in the US state of Tennesse at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Willie Mae Irving was born in Fayette County, Tennessee, USA on 15 July 1904, the daughter of Will and Pearlie Walls. She was raised by her grandparents, who were freed slaves.
As a young woman, Irving worked as a cook for the local mayor. In 1927, she married George Irving. The couple had 4 children. She was widowed in 1986.
Willie Mae Irving died in Collierville, Tennesse on 13 March 2015 at the age of 110 years, 241 days.
