Willie Rogers (27 October 1908 – 21 October 2008) was an American nonagenarian who was the son of Bettie Wilson and possibly the oldest person ever with a parent living at the same time as them.
Biography[]
Willie Rogers was born in Mississipi, USA on 27 October 1908. His grandparents were former slaves. He had two sisters, Eunice Rogers McKinney (1914–1992) and Inez Rogers Ford (1917–2001). In the 1920s, he married Tersia Rogers and had two sons with her. His son James Rogers died in 1965 at the age of 32 and his wife died in 1991 at the age of 78. His other son, Paul Rogers died about five years before him.
Roger's mother's brother-in-law, Roma Wilson (1910–2018) lived to be 107.
On 10 December 2004, Rogers surpassed the age of Kathryn Sullivan (daughter of Sarah Knauss) and became the oldest person ever to have a parent living, at that time. His mother, Bettie Wilson passed away on 13 February 2006 at the age of 115 years, 153 days. At the time, Rogers was 97 years, 109 days old.
Willie Rogers died six days before his 100th birthday in New Albany, Union County, Mississipi, USA on 21 October 2008 at the age of 99 years, 360 days.
