Wong Shee Yee (16 December 1869 – 28 January 1983) was a Chinese-born American supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). If validated, she would be the oldest person to ever die in the U.S. state of Hawaii and the world’s oldest person, following the death of Nellie Spencer on 13 November 1982.
Biography[]
Wong Shee Yee was born in Guangzhou, China on 16 December 1869.
She married Chong Koi Yee and had five children: Moon Tong Yee, Mou Chick Yee, Bee Good Yee, Hon Ping Yee (1906–1997) and Mee Toey Yee. She emigrated to Hawaii with husband at age 16.
Her husband died in 1908. She returned to Guangzhou after widowed. She lived in Hong Kong for 10 years. She returned to Honolulu at age 93 in 1962.
Wong Shee Yee died at St. Francis Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA on 28 January 1983 at the age of 113 years, 43 days.
