Biography[]
Xeni Pattakou claimed to have been born in Chromomonastiri, Rethymno, Crete, Ottoman Empire in 1878. She turned to monasticism when her family prevented her from marrying the man she loved. There are several traditions associated with her face about supernatural signs and appearances, such as that, when she was young and practicing in a deserted place, a local man from the nearby village tried to rape her. He reportedly returned idle and frightened, because she saw two armed men (angels) guarding the entrance of her cell.
She died blind, in the holy monastery of Savvatiana, in Irakleio, Crete, Greece, on 7 August 1995.
