Y'Bret Nie (1 January 1912? – 30 August 2022) was a Vietnamese-American supercentenarian claimant whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Y'Bret Nie claimed to have been born in Vietnam on 1 January 1912. He was a Vietnam War veteran of Montagnard ancestry.

In 2002, at the claimed age of 90, Nie, along with most of his family, emigrated to the United States.

In 2012, at the claimed age of 100, Nie suffered from a near-fatal stroke, which caused him to permanently lose his vision, and had also made his body become weaker. However, he was able to recover from the stroke after a period of time.

Nie was married to Aya H. Nie (aged 97 as of 2019). They had at least five children (three daughters and two sons), as well as at least two grandchildren: a granddaughter named Melina Ksor, and a grandson, who is Ksor's older brother.

As of 2021, Nie's granddaughter Ksor attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and has credited him to helping her be successful while attending the university, as well as in life, as he was always there for her whenever she needed someone to talk to, or if she needed to get advice for something.

In January 2022, Nie celebrated his claimed 110th birthday.

Y'Bret Nie died in High Point, North Carolina, USA on 30 August 2022, at the claimed age of 110 years, 241 days. If his claimed age were true, he would have been the oldest known living man in the U.S. state of North Carolina, and possibly also the oldest known living Vietnamese-born person as well, at the time of his death.
