Yaoe Koda [Japanese: 小田八尾衛] (1 July 1898 – 9 June 2011) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Yaoe Koda was born in Niyodogawa, Kochi Prefecture, Japan on 1 July 1898.
Following the death of 110-year-old Chiga Kitagawa on 11 September 2008, Koda became the oldest living person in Kochi Prefecture. Her age was verified by Stefan Gelow and Japan's MHLW, and validated by the GRG on 30 September 2009.
Yaoe Koda died in Ochi, Kochi Prefecture, Japan on 9 June 2011, at the age of 112 years, 343 days. At the time of her death, she was the sixth-oldest living person in Japan, after Chiyono Hasegawa, Jiroemon Kimura, Koto Okubo, Misao Okawa, and Kame Nakamura.
