Yoshi Kitamura (1 June 1901 – 29 May 2013) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was the oldest known person in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, when she died.
Biography[]
Kitamura was born in Japan on 1 June 1901. Her age claim was verified by Japan’s MHLW and Anson Davis and was validated by the GRG on 7 October 2011. On 20 February 2013, aged 111, she became the oldest known person in Hyogo Prefecture following the death of 113-year-old Terue Ashida.
Kitamura died in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, on 29 May 2013 at the age of 111 years, 362 days - three days before what would have been her 112th birthday. Her successor as the oldest person in Hyogo Prefecture was Sugino Tamai (1902-2015).
