Yoshiyo Bessho [Japanese: 別所吉代] (1 April 1904 – 8 April 2018) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She is currently the oldest validated person ever from Okayama Prefecture.
Biography
Yoshiyo Bessho was born on 1 April 1904 in Niimi, Okayama Prefecture, Japan. In April 2014, she celebrated her 110th birthday.
Bessho became the oldest person in Okayama Prefecture upon the death of Sawano Kobayashi on 6 November 2014. Her age was verified by Takeo Inishie, Marco Wikkerink, and Japan's MHLW, and validated by the GRG on 17 October 2015.
Yoshiyo Bessho died in Niimi, Okayama Prefecture, Japan on 8 April 2018, at the age of 114 years, 7 days. Following her death, Harue Kunitomi became the oldest living person in Okayama Prefecture.
