Zinaida Shamugiya (3 May 1908? – fl.6 May 2020) was a Georgian supercentenarian claimant whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She lived in a de facto sovereign state of Abkhazia.
Biography[]
Zinaida Shamugiya claimed to have been born in the village of Kvemo Barghebi, Gali Municipality, Russian Empire (present-day Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia), on 3 May 1908. Her parents died when she was a child. Shamugiya was raised by her uncle together with her brother and sister. Throughout her childhood, she used to work a lot on fields. She got married at the age of 20. Her husband was allegedly 70 years old at that time, but according to her, no one forced her to marry him. She had at least one son.
Shamugiya was last known to be alive on 6 May 2020 at the claimed age of 112 years, 3 days. At that time, she lived in Gali District, Abkhazia.
