Zorie De Mattos (born 17 January 1915) is a Guyanese supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) and LongeviQuest (LQ). She is currently the oldest known living person in Guyana.
Biography[]
Zorie De Mattos was born in the village of Hand-en-Veldt, near Mahaica, Demerara-Mahaica, Guyana, on 17 January 1915. Her early years, she spent in a convent.
In 1969, she was admitted to a nursing home in Georgetown, Demerara-Mahaica. She was reportedly left there by an older brother who could no longer care for her.
In 2020, at the age of 105, she recovered from COVID-19, becoming one of the oldest people in Guyana to survive the decease.
On 17 January 2025, she celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian.
On 18 April 2025, following the death of 112-year-old Evadney Talbot, she became the oldest known living person in Guyana.
Zorie De Mattos currently lives in Georgetown, Demerara-Mahaica, Guyana, at the age of 111 years, 8 days.
